Magic's Howard embraces new captain role

SEATTLE, Nov 29, 2007 - Dwight Howard is still nine days shy of his 22nd birthday, so for him to hear a rookie like Greg Oden has looked up to him for years is somewhat shocking to the Orlando Magic's franchise center.

But it has let Howard know he's made some tremendous growth in his three-plus years in the NBA.

"I don't feel like a vet yet, but I feel like I've been around the league for a while, and I know what to expect now," Howard said before the Magic's game Wednesday against Seattle. "It feels good knowing that I have some of the younger players like Oden looking up to me. It tells me I'm doing some things right."
