Howard makes early MVP caseATLANTA, Dec. 2, 2007 – But any discussion of the candidates for MVP has to begin with the NBA's best big man, and some people would argue that you can wipe away the young tag these days, now that Atlanta's own Dwight Howard has surged to the front of the crowd in his fourth pro season. Sure, Howard has a few more championships to win before he catches up with Duncan and Shaquille O'Neal. And his game is far from a finished product. That said, no other post player can match the Orlando Magic All-Star's overpowering presence and impact for his team — Howard has the Magic atop the Eastern Conference standings and among the league leaders in wins at 14-3. "This kid has turned into an absolute beast," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. "I mean, he's an absolute terror out there now that he can face the basket and beat you that way, too.
